October 18: Precept Nine

Today’s Precept Nine I also learned from IU Track Coach Ron Helmer: You don’t have to feel your best to do your best. Don’t build in excuses to fail. Succeed even in the face of perceived adversities.
Take care.

Another gem, Fred. I put the thoughts you have developed here into a related bucket -- blamers --, people who for one reason or another choose not to own their own part in whatever problems beset them or consequences befall them. Blamers distract themselves from focusing on the process that needs to be undertaken to fix the problems or prevent them in the future. There is a funny contemporary card I ran across recently that has two women talking to one another as they walk along, one saying to the other "I didn't say you are at fault, I said I was blaming you." I bought all four of those cards in the rack, confident that I would find at least that many folks to whom I want to send one at some point. Thanks for all you do, and do so well. Sarah B
